After a 25+ year career at Barneys, when the store closed I was ready to make a change. I took an online quiz that suggested I either work with my hands or do something medical-related. Since I love learning languages and solving puzzles, when I came across a description of Medical Coding, I knew that I had found my new career. I learned Greek and 3 different Code Sets! Every chart is like a mystery to solve.
“I think the program should expand worldwide! I am very grateful to be a part of OS2. It seemed virtually impossible to find an entry-level position without having 2-3 years of coding experience–and I get it- Hiring Mgrs. know that accreditation exams only signify that you understand the theory of Medical Coding. Apprenticing at OS2 means that with feedback from my mentor I will improve my coding skills daily.
I earn CEU’s while learning the very software I will use on a live project. At graduation, I will have 2 years of coding experience. Compared to working a sub-entry-level/coding-adjacent job just to get my foot in the door and waiting a couple of years for someone to retire-no thank you!”
Reading, Running, Needlepointing, and Watching Detective Dramas- often I’ll needlepoint while watching tv or run while listening to a book on tape. I also love hanging out with my Kerry Blue Terrier, Aoife, and my kids–when they’re home!
