Monica has been coding since 2017, retiring from more than 30 years in education policy. She is the OS2 Training Manager and a Rick Adjustment Instructor. She has been coding with OS2 since 2018. Monica enjoys training and mentoring others. Monica and her husband live in Texas and have three adult daughters and two randsons.
Course Description
This program provides students the opportunity to learn both hospital and physician coding. Ideal candidates are students who have completed the OS2U Risk Adjustment Mentee program, registered coders, and coders who hold their CRC only. It was designed to prepare risk adjustment coders in the discipline of procedural coding in the physician and hospital setting in an attempt to earn the CPC and/or COC, as well as, CDEO certifications. This is the second phase of OS2U’s Fundamental program designed to improve the marketability and employability of its students by providing training which earns certification and experience employees are looking for. Course Objectives
Identify the purpose of the CPT®, ICD-10-CM Code Set, and HCPCS Level II code books, Apply coding conventions when assigning procedure codes, Identify the information in appendices of the CPT® manual, Explain the determination of the levels of E/M services, Code a wide variety of patient services using CPT®, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes, List the major features of HCPCS Level II Codes, Provide practical application of coding operative reports and evaluation and management services.
