During our experience in the medical coding field, we uncovered a problem: new coders often leave their training without real experience or adequate support and struggle to find work placements or thrive in their careers. We decided to tackle this industry-wide issue head-on by founding OS2U.

OS2 Healthcare Solutions (OS2H) is the coding arm of OS2. Since 2015, the firm has specialized in risk adjustment coding and is utilized by leading healthcare companies. With extensive experience among its professional coders, OS2H provides specialized services to its clients and offers unique training opportunities for OS2U students.

Founder Story
Leading the charge is Melissa Freeman–our champion, catalyst for change, and CEO.
Melissa Freeman is the CEO and founder of OS2 Healthcare Solutions and OS2U Training & Development Center. As a catalyst for change in the medical coding field for over a decade, she has used her talent and extensive experience to transform the revenue cycle for insurance plans, hospitals, and physicians nationwide. Under her leadership, she has helped healthcare organizations recover millions of dollars in lost revenue while mitigating compliance risks through her expert guidance.
Driven by a desire to help others, Melissa is dedicated to advocacy, animals, family, fitness, philanthropy, and the economic advancement of families. She plans to bring her vision to life by merging her business and philanthropic interests to improve the quality of life for women, veterans, and families across the nation.

Melissa Freeman
CEO and Education Director
Melissa is the Coding Director and CEO of OS2 Healthcare Solutions and OS2U. She has been in the healthcare revenue cycle realm for 18 years. Her passion is to change the Medical Coding World by disabling coding myths and improving coding outcomes. It is her belief quality training defines great coding not the quantity of experience. She is a US Army Veteran, mother of two boys, fur mommy to Lauren, and CEO of Miracles and Mane.
Monica Walker
Instructor
Monica has been coding since 2017, after retiring from more than 30 years in education policy. She is the OS2 Coding Operations Manager and a Risk Adjustment Instructor, having worked with OS2 since 2018. Monica enjoys training and mentoring others. She and her husband live in Texas and have three adult daughters and two grandsons.
Renea Abbey
PST Instructor
Renea has been in the Risk Adjustment field with OS2 since 2018. She is extremely passionate about coding and loves teaching others the craft. She has a 15-year-old son and three fur babies. She calls the great state of Texas her home!
Taryn Reyes
Education Coordinator
Taryn’s is OS2U’s Education Director and brings more than 15 years of experience in providing mentorship and guidance to medical professionals. Taryn loves spending time with her husband and three children. Her “me time” is going to the gym and exploring.
Viji Manikandan
Coding Operations Liaison (COLA)
Viji has been working in medical coding since 2005 and part of the OS2 family since 2013. She earned her CPC in 2009 and CCS in 2013. Now, in her role of COLA, she has learned a lot aside from coding, and greatly enjoys her position at OS2U. She is married and has a 15-year old son, and in her spare time, enjoys listening to music, watching movies, and traveling.
