Coding Mentee

Overview

The OS2U Mentee Program is a uniquely designed course that is broken up into 2 phases, risk adjustment and outpatient coding. Through this course, students have the opportunity to earn 3 coding certifications from AAPC. Our course is regulated by The Texas Workforce Commission and provides students with the fundaments in coding, practical experience, and a paid apprenticeship upon completion of earning the first certificate. How it works

TRAINING

Students will learn diagnostic coding guidelines and the principles of risk management coding.

EXAM PREP

After a 4-day bootcamp, students will test for CRC certification from AAPC

PAID APPRENTICESHIP

After earning CRC certification and completing the practicum, students are offered a paid position with OS2 Healthcare Soluti

MENTORSHIP

Through guidance and mentorship of the OS2 coding leadership team, coders are are introduced to 3M Encoder, coding portals, common coding resources, business rules and guidelines.

PLACEMENT

Our placement coordinator will pair you with our coding partners for permanent placement.

Phase 1: Risk Adjustment

OS2U’s Risk Adjustment Mentee Program is a 6-month course for students who are interested in Medicare and commercial risk adjustment coding. Students will take part in a practicum to showcase their skills on live charts under the direction of OS2 Healthcare Solutions management and audit staff.

Phase 2: Outpatient Coding

Beginning immediately after peak season, the outpatient coding is an 8-month course that is designed to prepare risk adjustment coders for procedural coding in a hospital and physician setting. This course will also give an opportunity for students to earn CPC and COC certifications. Students who meet the requirements for DOL apprenticeship program will still be paid while attending training ( 3o hours minimum per week) while working for OS2 Healthcare Solutions.

Financial Aid

MyCAA

Spouses of E-1 to E-5, W-1 to W-2, and O-1 to O-2 active duty military, activated members of the National Guard, and Reserve Components are eligible to apply for up to $4000.00 in financial assistance to pay for degree programs, licensures, or credentials leading to employment in portable career fields.

WIOA

Provide individuals with funding for occupational training, eligibility is determined at your local Workforce centers.

Voc Rehab

You may be eligible for vocational rehabilitation services if you have a disability which results in substantial barriers to employment, require services to prepare for obtain retain or advance in employment.

GI Bill

If you have at least 90 days of active duty service after Sept. 10, 2010, are still on active duty, were honorably discharged or were discharged with a service-connected disability, you may be eligible for the program. Please log on to benefits.va.gov to check your status and eligibility.

Employer

Your employer may provide you with up to $5,250 in employer education assistance benefits each year, per section 127 of the Internal Revenue Code. You do not need to be degree seeking to be eligible for this benefit.

Faq’s

How Much Does It Cost?
Prices varies depending on the course – we suggest that new coders start with the CRC course as a “foot in the door” certification and is one of the shortest courses between beginning and certification eligibility.
Will I Be Able To Get A Job Right After I Pass My Exam?
Jobs for new coders can be hard to come by, but it is possible. OS2U will make every effort to make resources available to the coder to be successful. Likewise, by having the practicum as part of their course, the student gains 2 courses of coding experience.
How Does Payment Work? What Are Acceptable Payment Methods?
For onsite courses, a down payment of $1,500.00 followed by payment installments per course phase.

Payment plans are not available for A La Carte Courses (Preseason Training and Bootcamps)

We generally use PayPal, however, we do accept checks and cash.

Is Everything Online Or Will I Have To Come Onsite?
Risk Adjustment and Outpatient Coding Courses are only available onsite.

Preseason Training and Bootcamps are based online. If the student is local and would like to pick up their books to eliminate shipping fee’s that is an available option.
